Sara Ramirez
Sara Ramirez has been a Mexican American actor, performer and songwriter for several years. Sara Ramirez was brought up by an American mother, and was subjected to a variety of racist taunts and made her feel unwelcome. When she was in 9th grade she felt more secure after being acknowledged by her teachers as a success when she sang at the school's audition. She not only gained confidence through the audition and gained experience, but also changed her career goals. At 22 she was a graduate of the New York's Julliard School. At the age of 23, her first Broadway performance with Paul Simon's The Capeman, and her debut film, You've Got Mail were both her big breaks. Her greatest break came in the role of The Lady of The Lake in the first Broadway version of Spamalot. She won the Tony Award and received great praise for the performance. Her fame grew by appearing on Grey's Anatomy on ABC as Dr. Callie Torres. As a well-known singer, she released her own single and an extended version of her play. In addition, she's a campaigner and has been active to promote LGBT rights.
